Café Flora began with a simple idea: to create a place where people feel comfortable, a place to come back to.
Our owner and founder, Max Bergeron, grew up just outside Montréal, surrounded by food, music, family, and the warmth of gathering around a table.
Years of travel shaped the dream of running a café. Max spent countless hours in cafés in Nepal, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, and France. Each café had its own personality, rooted in its place.
Max and his wife, Sophia, moved to Salt Spring Island a couple of years ago with their daughter Flora. Eventually the time was right to open their own place.
Our intention is for Café Flora to be deeply Salt Spring. Inspired by the ocean, the forests, the creativity, and the quiet magic of this island, we hope it feels like a reflection of the people here and this beautiful place we call home.
We see Café Flora as a gathering place.
